Charlie Chans nightclub below Walthamstow Stadium has closed this week.

Citing the reduced custom due to the Smoking Ban as the reason for closure. Clubbers heading towards Chans in Walthamstow this past weekend were greeted with a locked door. Leaving those than have paid membership fees recently to join Chans for the year wondering what was that £20 membership fee for? If they knew they was going to close a few weeks ago then it seems unethical to still accept yearly membership fees from customers.

 Anyway, many recent visitors to Chans have claimed the clientele was getting a bit young and rowdy in Chans. A club full of pissed-up teenagers doesn’t really appeal to the slightly older more mature 20-30 year old clubbers, so maybe this recent shift in clientele contributed to the fall of Chans. Also rumours of Walthamstow Stadium dog track being flatten and redeveloped for housing could have something to do with Chans closure.

 Finally visiting Charlie Chans website this week and you are greeted with a short somewhat unprofessional message ‘ Charlie Chans is now closed forever. Thank you all for coming’.
Well that explains it all doesn’t it, so it looks like its goodbye to Chans for the forseeable future anyway.
